When done right, shipping container architecture can be both effective and aesthetically pleasing. And although the interior of this project leaves plenty to be desired, the concept itself is more than functional for flash retail. The Gorman ShipShop by Next Architects is a mobile retail environment that gets-up-and-goes when its market does the same. The ShipShop scouts a location, opens its doors for business then moves along according to the winds of commerce. When used sparingly, this concept could be successful. But if it is overused– just imagine an invasion of shipping containers in your local city– it could lead to nothing more than commercial pollution. We’re hoping urban developers and city planners license these accordingly to keep them in short order.
